So many people beginn each year with a bunch of new year’s resolutions like “I’m going to save more money.”, “I’m going to drink no alcohol.” or something like that.
Imho those are all great resolutions if you actually want to do those things, but for most people it’s probably just something they are somehow pressured to do by our society. Some of those resolutions are probably not that bad, but if you plan to lose weight by working out more often you should probably ask yourself first why do you want to lose weight! Is it because you yourself are unhappy with you current weight or is it because society makes you believe that you would be happier if you’d just be able to lose a few pounds?
We are really living in a deranged society where, thanks to advertising and media, we are told that in order to be happy we need to look like supermodels, own the newest iPhone and drive the new Lamborghini… and most of us don’t even question those things, no we usually just assume all those things must be true, I mean look at those supermodels on TV celebrating in St. Tropez and driving the newest cars, they do look quite happy… and they might actually be happy (even though I doubt it) but that doesn’t mean that those things would be fulfilling for you too.
So, I’ve been sick during the holidays and therefore I didn’t smoke for a couple of days since I just didn’t feel like smoking when I’m not even able to get up and cook for myself. After getting better I somehow felt like, well I didn’t smoke for a couple of days so why not stop for good. That said I didn’t smoke for about two weeks now, and I just don’t know why not?
I mean, I’m aware that it’s not healthy and that it’s probably better if I don’t start again, but on the other hand I really enjoy smoking a cigarette from time to time. Now the problem is if I’d say I only smoke on weekends or only when we are going out it somehow would be a ritual just like it was before to smoke a cigarette with my morning coffee… for most people I’d still just be a smoker even if it would mean instead of smoking five to ten cigarettes daily to just smoke a couple every week.
But overall if would be a huge improvement and to be fair why should I give a fuck about what other people are thinking? I mean if I enjoy my cigarette from time to time why shouldn’t I? Why should I care if people judge me or come up with things like “Oh I see your new years resolution already failed!”… Just why should I do that, I mean after all it’s my life and if there is something I enjoy doing, even though it’s not healthy, why should I stop doing it?
That said I smoked my first cigarette today and I’ve to say I enjoyed it. I don’t feel the need to smoke another one today and probably won’t smoke tomorrow with my morning coffee but I’m quite sure that I’m going to smoke from time to time perhaps sometimes more than one cigarette a day because it’s my decision and I just don’t see any reason to stop right now.
