So, another year has almost past. It’s the 23rd of December and I’m currently staying at the Grand Centre Point in Bangkok, successfully escaping my yearly winter depression in Germany.
Looking back I can say it’s been a quite success- and eventful year. And while I’m aware that I’m supposed to be happy and grateful, it just doesn’t feel like “this is it”, if you know what I mean.
Professional Life & Trips
I have to admit, that if somebody told me beforehand what would’ve happen this year I probably wouldn’t have believed it. Mostly because I actually was planning to end my ongoing contract with Viverni GmbH by October this year and move back to South-East-Asia for the foreseeable future.
But as so often before, things just didn’t work out as planned. You may call it coincidence, karma or plain luck. Somehow I met the CEO of a young interesting Star-Up distributing myHummy® in Germany and after just two short “meetings” we decide to work together, which let to me ending my old contract even earlier than expected and staying in Germany for a bit longer.
During my work for myHummy® I accompanied the company to a couple conventions and other business related trips throughout Europe and was able to visit Paris (France), Vienna (Austria), Łowicz (Poland), Warsaw (Poland), Gent (Belgium), Cologne (Germany) and Berlin (Germany). Even though I’ve already been at a couple of those locations there’ve still been some new one’s which I really enjoyed. Although I didn’t have as much time as I wanted to explore each city, I really enjoyed all those business related trips.
Besides those trips I somehow also managed to visit Vienna (Austria), Villach (Austria), Munich (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic), Hong Kong (Hong Kong SAR China) and of course Bangkok (Thailand) until now, and am going to visit Manila (Philippines) during the next two weeks.
So overall I’ve been to nine different countries this year, and a total of 14 in my life so far. Three of those I’ve visited for the first time in my life. With all those new experiences my current favourite city and country is without a doubt Hong Kong, so if you are not sure which city to explore next I can recommend it without any exceptions.
Here are a view impressions from those trips, if you want to see more check out my Instagram account.
Semi-Professional Life & Hobbies
Besides work I obviously pursued many other things, some with great effort and others, well let’s be honest, with not so much effort.
Looking back we’ve had some progress here at Deranged Society as well as some throwbacks. Let’s break it down to…
The Good
- During this year our team here at Deranged Society grew and we welcomed a new contributor named Cipher to our community.
- We also decided to expand the website and provide translated versions of all postings, transforming DS to a multilingual blog.
- I’ve finally started streaming on Twitch.tv
- Deranged Society now has it’s own Discord Server

The Bad
- None of us really had a lot of time posting new content during the year, and we are mostly busy with other projects causing
- Due to lack of resources we had to roll back the translations and are going to keep the website in English only for now.
The Ugly
- I’m going to take some time during the following weeks to re-consider what I want DS to be, cause even though it’s more or less a hobby of mine, without a goal to achieve it’s hard to ensure constant progress.
There would be a lot more to write about, but since I don’t have that much time left I’ll probably just invite you to join one of my livestreams at Twitch.tv (English/German) or watch my Vlogs (German) for more information regarding my personal life.
New Year Resolution
This brings me to the end of this post, my new year resolution for 2018. There is actually not a lot I want to change to be honest. Writing this post the only things that really come to mind is focusing a little bit more on posting regular content here on Deranged Society, keeping up my weekly VLogs at YouTube and maintaining a more or less regular streaming schedule at Twitch.tv.
That said, how has your year been so far, and do you have any special plans for 2018? Can’t wait to read your comments below.
